Brave #fiveminutefriday

I'm crying, big racking sobs, uncontrollable but embarrassed.  I can't believe I'm doing this. Here. With you. You have your arm around me, rubbing my shoulder, touching my hair. It's down, since for the first time it feels like spring in Anaheim. I'm clutching the stuffed Dumbo you won just down the boardwalk, racing horses with water jets. Was it only twenty minutes ago?

We're in the gift shop but all I can see through the film of tears are the creepy shirts and logos. "YOU SURVIVED" they scream at me. It didn't feel like it. Nick and Amanda have wandered off, Genna is politely conversing with an employee (like always). You and I are as alone as it gets at Disneyland.

He walked over to us, unobtrusively, allowing me a moment to try (unsuccessfully) to catch my breath. The tears aren't gushing, but I can't stop the dry heaves or the shakes.

He pulled out a coin and did a small sleight of hand. The magician in you is instantly interested.

"Did you know, if you erm-" he pauses, unsure if he's caught our attention. "If you drop this coin into Snow White's Magic Wishing Well, and you say a wish together, your wish will come true?"

I smile shyly and look at you. We both know exactly what we would wish for. One year away from a wedding date and we only have eyes for each other.

You pocket the coin and we politely chitchat. But you won't let go of my hand, just as I can't let go of Dumbo. When our group re-unites at the exit of that gloomy store, headed for the Castle and the Well, you whisper in my ear.

"You were so brave."

Was I? I would do anything for you.
Write. For five minutes straight. One-word prompt, five minutes, no editing. I'm linking up over at Lisa-Jo Baker (aka The Gypsy Mama) where we read, write and encourage.
